The Best Two Years

Yesterday, Jacob and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary. Time really has flown by! I can't believe we've already been married for two years and that we have a 6-month old! We had a great weekend together. My mom was nice enough to watch Hudson on Saturday so that we could go to the temple. Afterwards, we went to Mango's. Their enchiladas are better than mine will ever be. We also went bowling. I bowled an 87. I don't think that is the worst score I've ever had which is kind of sad. I was pretty proud of myself that the 7-pound ball felt really light. I used to use a 6 and it felt heavy. I am now the proud owner of buff mom arms. Yesterday, Jacob's mom watched Hudson for a couple of hours and we went and saw The Proposal. It was pretty funny. I would have rather gone to see Transformers, I love me some Shia, but I figured The Proposal was more anniversary like. When we got home, I made us some yummy cheese fondue and we all ate as a family. I am so lucky to have such a great husband and a son who cracks me up. We are really enjoying being a family of three!

The best family shot I could get! Hudson is always distracted by the fan.

Thanks again to our mommies for watching Hudson!

Happy Father's Day!

Today was Jacob's first father's day. Hudson was so nice and made him a really cute card. He put the finishing touches on it by chewing on the upper left corner. I made Jacob a vegetable omelet for lunch. It was supposed to be for breakfast but we have church at nine and I am in no way a morning person. We had a great day spending time with Jacob and are so grateful for how hard he works for us. He is such a wonderful dad! Happy father's day to my daddy too. We missed your scraggly beard today and we love you!

Funny Pictures

Just thought I'd post some more funny pictures of Hudson because I think he is hilarious! He is getting so big, he needs to stop growing up so fast! He has learned how to turn on his music and lights thing in his crib (he hits it with his foot) and is rolling all over the place. My favorite thing he does is touch my face. It makes me feel special. I love making him laugh and kissing his chubby cheeks. He tries to crawl but just looks like he is swimming on land and doesn't go anywhere. His favorite food as of today: peas!

We have to hold his hands so he doesn't shove them in his mouth and make a mess.

He distorts his body in strange ways.

He has just discovered that he likes to play with his feet.

Give Me Food!

This is why Hudson is a chunk. So far he has eaten anything I have given him. I have been making his baby food. So far he's eaten rice cereal, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Next vegetable up: peas. That will be the true test. I don't even really like peas. Who knows, maybe he'll take after Jacob and be a human garbage disposal.

Kate Voegele Concert

Last week, Aubrey and I had the chance to go to the Kate Voegele concert with her roommates. It was really nice for me to get out of the house and to hang out with girls for a change. I am surrounded by boys at home! If any of you out there watch One Tree Hill, you will know who she is. There were two girls who performed before her. The first, Amy Kuney, was really good and was so funny! The next girl, however, played way too many songs and was slightly crazy. This is us waiting for her to finish.

Finally, Kate came on and was great! She has a great voice and is awesome on the guitar. I even copied her outfit for church the next Sunday. It was slightly less scandalous though. The only downside to the concert was the freakishly tall girl who thought it was a good idea to shove her way in front of us. FYI lady: We are short and cannot see over your badly teased bouffant hair. Oh, and can you and your friend stop taking pictures of each other? I am embarassed for you. My sister and I only took two. That is not the same. :) I am hoping for more girls' nights in the future.

Hawaii!

I am going to try not to make this a really long post, but there are just so many pictures! First off, Hawaii= Beautiful. It is so much cooler than Arizona. We do not have Mongooses running around. We do not have a plethora of beautiful fishes. We do not have a beach. Can you tell I really like it there? We had a great trip! The flight was super long. Especially with a 4 1/2 month old. I had to feed him on the plane three times. Breastfeeding in public: I do not enjoy. Eventually we made it to our hotel in Ko Olina, on the West shore of O'ahu. It was sunny and glorious. We did so many fun things. We went snorkeling and a turtle kept swimming right by us. We did not break the law, Hawaii. It was the turtles doing!

We went surfing, which was my favorite thing. I could not catch my own wave but I could stand up when I got pushed onto one. That's pretty good right? I got massive bruises on my hips and ribs but it was totally worth it. We went to Pearl Harbor which was kind of a surreal experience. My grandfather, who Hudson's middle name came from, was on the Tennessee at Pearl Harbor. It was hard for me to imagine him there when it was bombed. His ship was pretty close to the Arizona which exploded and is still there.

We went to the Dole plantation, which is worth a visit if for nothing but the ice cream. It's crazy to see how pineapples grow. I always figured they grew on a tree but nope. They stick up off a bush.

We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, which is really neat. Except that it was raining all day. And they have pretty much nowhere for mothers to feed babies. Imagine me, drenched in rain, frizzy curly hair, wandering around with Hudson trying to find somewhere to feed him. Never found a place. Fed child in nasty bathroom. Hello PCC, are you listening? You should really fix that problem. Anyway, other than that it was fun! It really was a great trip. I came back one shade darker than pasty. Jacob has swimmer's ear but we got that all taken care of when we came home. It is nice to be home. If nothing for the fact that my hair doesn't frizz. :)

Trip to Utah

Thursday through Sunday of last week, Hudson and I went with my mom and sister to Utah for my cousin's wedding. It was the first time that Hudson has gone on an airplane. I was nervous that he would scream and cry and I would be scorned by all the other passengers. Luckily, he did just great! He was a little fussy on the way there because he didn't want to drink his bottle cold. The nice flight attendant warmed it up for us with the coffee water and he was just fine after that. We had a lot of fun with my family and the wedding reception was really fun. They had a photo booth. It freaked Hudson out a little bit. The weather was absolutely fabulous! I wish it was more like that here. I was a little sad to leave. I took some souvenirs with me though: My grandmother's homemade lye soap (it gets out everything, perfect for people with messy babies), a new cute headband, and my favorite one, my Creamies! I used the bottle ice pack and took some home in my suitcase. If you've never had them, they are the absolute best ice cream pops ever. I can't find them anywhere here! I have two left if you want to fight me for them. :) Hopefully, he will do this well on our 5 hour flight to Hawaii this week! Cross your fingers.
