Temple Lights

Every year for Christmas, we love walking around to see the lights at the Mesa temple. It was fun to go this year because we have Hudson. He loved them! He just kind of stared as we walked around. He wanted to grab them of course, but I didn't think that would be a good idea. His favorite thing was the star of Bethlehem, because it was the brightest. :)

Is it sad that I am paler than Hudson?
Don't mind Jacob's funky eye, this is the best picture of all of us.

Children's Museum

Yesterday, Hudson and I had the opportunity to go to the Phoenix Children's Museum with some friends of ours. Thanks so much to Heather for getting the culture pass! Woo hoo! We had a lot of fun. It was a little hectic. There were a lot of school aged kids there, running around and yelling. Luckily, there is a special room for kids three and under. We spent most of our time in there. Hudson really seemed to enjoy the change of scenery and likes spending time with other little kids. I think he gets bored of me. His favorite part was the fun noodle field. They have a ton of fun noodles hanging from the ceiling and you get to walk through them. I actually got a really great picture of his happy face! Usually when the camera appears, he goes stone faced. It'll will be great to go back when he is older and can walk. PS- Don't you love his little teeth? They crack me up.

Our House

Let's just start this off by saying that I hate moving. I didn't think we had that much stuff until we had to move it all. It didn't help that we had to clean and sanitize everything before we moved in either. It is definitely still a work in progress but it is starting to feel more like a home. We have a bit more room, which is nice. We have two bathrooms which is awesome. We live right by an elementary school and the lady who announces things over the PA system has the most annoying voice though. I am already sick of her. Sorry for the millions of pictures, but you have to see the before to appreciate the after.

You've all seen that hideous wallpaper. Here is after. Not done, but much better.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

It has been forever since I have posted but I have a good reason. We moved. But that's for another post. We had a great Thanksgiving down in Tucson. It was really nice to get away from all the stress of a new house and relax with my family. It's especially nice because I get to somewhat be a kid and have my mom take care of me again. It was really fun to have Hudson this year. He definitely enjoyed the food. He takes after both his parents on that one. We did go black Friday shopping while Uncle Isaac snoozed at home with Hudson. We got some things for the new house but also some cheap movies (the best kind!) Here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

Just Waiting

The house is pretty much all packed up, I've got my paint colors all picked out. I'm just waiting for them to give me my house! I want to get in there already, I've got a lot of work to do before it will be my home. Here is proof:
This is my bedroom at current. I thought maybe I'd keep the border but decided it would be best just to get rid of all of it. At least I've got John Mayer's new Battle Studies to keep me company. Soooo goood! Cross your fingers that tomorrow will be the day!

I Don't Know Why...

I thought it was a good idea to get another dog right now. She pees in the house and bites my ankles and pants when I walk away from her. She eats all the food, poor Ace! However, she is cute and cuddly and Ace is much more happy now that she is around. I'm sure things will get better once she's housetrained and gets a little older.

This is Halloween!

We had a fun Halloween this year. It took me forever to decide what we were going to dress up as. We finally decided on Pirates of the Caribeann. Jacob was William Turner, I was Elizabeth Swann, and Hudson was Jack Sparrow. Overall, I think they turned out really well. I love mine and Hudson's vests! His was much easier to make, gotta love felt! I tried to dye Jacob's shirt a maroon color but it came out sort of pink. (Faded Salmon, ha ha!) I forgot to put Hudson's sash on, two nights in a row! Other than that though, things were great. We went to our ward party which was kind of a bust. We carved pumpkins with my sis and went to this little carnival that was in someone in our neighborhood's backyard. I got cotton candy! Woo hoo! And of course, we ate our traditional hot dogs and chili. Yum! Next up: Thanksgiving!

I died of laughter drawing his facial hair on.
I'm gonna eat you!

Asleep on the Job

Jacob was watching Hudson while I was checking my email. I went out to see what they were doing and this is what I found. It's a good thing he doesn't watch him all day or who knows where he would end up!

9 Months Old

I was waiting to see how much Hudson weighs this month to post his stats and I definitely had no reason to wait. He weighs the same! He is just under 20 pounds. He is two inches longer though, at 28.5 inches. I guess all the fat he already had just spread out. He is a lot more active than he used to be. He can drag himself anywhere he needs to go. He loves to pull the dvds out of the entertainment center, which drives me crazy because they are in alphabetical order and he keeps messing them up. :) We went to the AZ Museum for Youth a couple weeks back. He seemed to enjoy himself but I'm pretty sure that is where he caught his cold from. Call me paranoid but that is why I keep him at home a lot. He has six teeth now. He likes to bite fingers, shoulders, noses. Pretty much anything that he can get to. He is still happy almost all the time. He is a great eater and just started eating table food, which he loves, of course. We love him so much and he makes us laugh every day!

You'd Think He Never Gets Fed

I was letting Hudson play with the cheerio box while I made dinner and I came out to find this. He was grabbing handfuls and stuffing them in his mouth. Note the devilish look in his eye.

Fall Frenzy 2009

This past Friday, we were able to go with my family to the Fall Frenzy at Tempe beach park. There was a bunch of fun stuff going on: face painting, food, and lots 'o great music. Pardon the 'o I just used. I was feeling the Irish in me. Anyhoo, I mostly just wanted to go to hear Jason Mraz. He is my secret love. I have loved him for like 6 years. I drove around with my friend Ashley to tons of different stores looking for his first CD. I wish I could be as cool as him and wear a fedora all the time. Of course he was amazing in concert! I wish we could be friends. Do you know who wasn't amazing? The B-52s. The B-52s + LSD= Friends Forever. That is just my speculation of course but they were super nutty! Gavin Rossdale was really loud and I am not a fan. I think my poor child has hearing loss. At least he has a hot wife.

Poor Jacob missed out on most of the fun because his truck broke down. Something with the axle and the pin. Basically the body of his truck was resting on the tire. That's not so good. Luckily he was parking when it happened. Hooray for AAA! I'm kind of disappointed right now that I didn't get a picture. Besides that, we all had a great time and hope to go back next year! Hopefully there won't be any girls next year with shirts painted on their naked bodies. I think we are all scarred for life.

No Avocado for Me

I finally found a food that Hudson doesn't like. It's a food that I don't like either. He is becoming more and more like me every day. Just thought I'd share this video because I think it's funny. It is also proof that kids can gag at the taste of certain foods so you shouldn't make them eat it. Ie: little me sitting at the kitchen table for hours because I wouldn't eat my green beans because they made me gag. I told you I wasn't lying, Mom! You should have taken me to Dairy Queen. :(

8 Months Old

Who is this big boy and where did my little baby go?

As you can see, Hudson now has both his top teeth. He now has four total. He is getting sort of close to crawling, I think he mostly just enjoys rolling everywhere. He will still eat everything I give him (obviously! ha) and is almost always happy. We are enjoying each and every day and all the new things we get to experience with him.

My Dog Ate My Homework

That excuse doesn't work anymore but maybe now we can blame it on our baby. He loves to play with paper. This is what happened when he was left alone in proximity to my grocery list. Heaven help me when the boy can walk.

My 100th Post

Want to know what happens to your plumbing when you live in a 50+ year old house? For no apparent reason, it gets backed up and this is what happens to it.

This is what happened to us late Tuesday night. Jacob was trying to do the dishes and noticed that the water wasn't going down in the sink. We have no disposal so we are kind of used to this problem, however, we realized it was a big problem when we walked into the bathroom and saw that black water. We realized it was an even bigger problem when we walked back into the kitchen and saw water all over the floor. There is an old washer hook up (see above picture) in the kitchen behind where we put the microwave. It was never sealed off and water was leaking out of that too. It was coming out of the walls and getting all over the kitchen. The kitchen I just scrubbed clean. It smelled disgusting too. It is all taken care of now but just emphasized the fact that I really, really, really, want to move. Waah. Sad that this is what I have to post for my 100th!

House Hunting

We have been trying to find a house for like 4 months now. Whoever said it is a buyer's market is obviously not looking for a house. The thing they didn't realize is that there are hundreds of buyers out there and not very many good houses for them to buy so we all want the same ones. It is really hard to get an offer in before someone else gets it. I have realized though, that this isn't my biggest obstacle to finding a house I like.

I don't want a house that has this for a backyard. Unfortunately, this is Arizona and that's how it is.
This is where I want to live. Who wants to live with me? I will let you fish in my river.

Proof

I feel like all I have done for the past two days is clean my house. That is probably because that is all I've done! These pictures are proof that my house was, at one time, clean and organized. I am trying to make the most of the space I have. With all of Hudson's things, space is now even more limited. I will sleep well tonight knowing that everything is neat and tidy. Let's see how long it lasts.

Getting into Trouble Already

So much for baby-proofing the house! I put these squishy things on the bottom corners of our tables so that Hudson wouldn't hurt his head if he rolls into them. He rolls all over the place now. However, I don't think they will do much good because he doesn't leave them on there!

Never Forget...

To set a timer when you have something boiling on the stove. Especially if it is made of plastic. This is just further proof that having a child kills brain cells, I swear it's true.

6 months Old!

Alright, so Hudson was 6 months old a couple weeks ago. I have been waiting to post a blog about it because I wanted to know how much he weighed first. That is always my favorite part. Anyhoo, here are his stats as of today:

Weight: 19# 13oz. 79th percentile (No wonder I can barely carry him in his carseat!)

Height: 26.5 inches. 45th percentile. (I think he might be a shrimper like me!)

Head Circumference: 45 cm. 76th percentile (That's from his big brain, which also comes from me :) )

He is growing up way too fast! I want him to stay little. Not that he is very little at this point but still. He is a great baby. He eats everything I feed him. I hope that lasts. He can sit up on his own for like 15 seconds. I think his chubby belly makes it hard for him. He has his two bottom teeth. They are still really short though so no biting yet. I hope that lasts too. He makes the funniest noises and laughs at the randomest things. He is already throwing tantrums when you take something away from him that he wants. We still love him though. I love watching him grow and learn new things.

Olive Garden at Home!

I always try and come up with new things to make for dinner, which doesn't happen often cause I swear my brain barely works these days. Anyhoo, I have been thinking about Olive Garden's Minestrone soup and so I decided to make it. I found a recipe for it on RecipeZaar.com, which I love. You can find anything on there! The soup turned out great! It tasted pretty close to the actual thing. We ate it with salad, with Olive Garden dressing, and garlic breadsticks. It was a lovely meal, if I do say so myself. And of course I had to take a picture. I am strangely proud of some of my dinners.
